He has designed the contents of the permanent exhibition dedicated to filmmaker Luis Buñuel at the Centro Buñuel of Calanda (CBC); Espada is currently the director of the CBC.
He has given courses and lectures, and has also participated in television debates about several aspects related to Buñuel’s films or to the concept of the CBC.
He edited the book Luis Buñuel a mediodía by Claudio Isaac and he has published a book of interviews, Conversaciones con Jean Claude Carrière. His work has been published in a variety of magazines and books, such as the one titled Calanda: el sueño de los tambores, and he has edited various catalogues for the exhibitions in which he has participated.
He has collaborated in several cinema festivals, among which we can highlight: Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), CineFrancia (Saragossa), Latin American Film Festival of Lleida, Cinespaña Festival of Toulouse, Mostra de Cinema da América Latina de Lisboa, Guadalajara International Film Festival, Expresión en Corto Film Festival (Guanajuato, Mexico), Documenta Madrid, Filmtage Munich, SEMINCI (Valladolid International Film Festival), San Sebastian International Film Festival, Estoril Film Festival and the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema (Havana).
Director and scriptwriter, together with Gaizka Urresti, of the documentary film El ultimo guión. Buñuel en la memoria (The last script: Remembering Luis Buñuel). He is the creator of a variety of exhibitions about cinema and more precisely about Buñuel. Outstanding among his most recent works are Los Olvidados. Memoria del Mundo (The forgotten. Memory of the World), Julio Alejandro, 100 años (Julio Alejandro, 100 years) and Amigos, rodajes, encuentros y algún disparate (Friends, filming, meetings and some nonsense).
In collaboration with the Spanish Film Library he has created the exhibition México fotografiado por Luis Buñuel (Mexico photographed by Luis Buñuel), devoted to recover a whole of unpublished photographs taken by Luis Buñuel while choosing locations for the filming of twelve of his Mexican films. It was presented in the exhibition halls of the Spanish Film Library of the Centro Buñuel of Calanda and in Mexico, Portugal and Cuba. The exhibition Buñuel. Entre dos mundos (Buñuel. Between two worlds) is another of the results of the collaboration with the Spanish Film Library. It was produced by SEACEX, the Ministry of Culture, the Spanish Film Library and the Centro Buñuel of Calanda, and inaugurated at the National Centre for the Arts in Mexico City by the Prince and Princess of Asturias, coinciding with the I Latin American Culture Convention, Cine y Audiovisual en Iberoamérica (Cinema and Audiovisuals in Latin America). Along with Asier Mensuro, he designed the exhibition Álbum fotográfico de la familia Buñuel (Photograph album of the Buñuel family). He is also the creator and director of the cinema festival 22xdon Luis.
