Beneficiary of the first José Celestino Mutis scholarship granted by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), Spain. Diplôme d’Etudes Aproffondies (D.E.A.) in History, EHESS. Founding Member of the “Sociedad de Amigos de Mutis”, Madrid.

Among his recent publications dealing with the figure of José Celestino Mutis, the following should be highlighted: Mutis, apóstol de Linneo: Historia de la Botánica en el Virreinato de la Nueva Granada (1760-1783) Bogotá, Instituto Colombiano de Antropología e Historia (2006).

Among the exhibitions, we should also mention: El mercader que escrutaba las estrellas. Francisco José de Caldas (The Merchant who scrutinized the Stars. Francisco José de Caldas), a touring exhibition conceived for rural schools in Colombia, Museo Nacional de Colombia (2002) and El regreso de Humboldt ("Humboldt’s Return”), an exhibition presented at the Museo Nacional de Colombia (2001).

Among his articles, we should mention: Mutis, Apôtre de Linné en Nouvelle-Grenade. Histoire de la Botanique dans la vice-royauté de la Nouvelle-Grenade (1760-1783) (2000); Ciencia y Representación (in collaboration with Olga Restrepo), Santa Fe de Bogotá (1999) and the Catalogue of the bibliographic exhibition inaugurated to mark the Bicentennial of the New Granada Botanical Expedition, Biblioteca Nacional de Bogotá (1983).

He has collaborated in radio programmes and in the production of the documentary Mutis y la Expedición Botánica (“Mutis and the Botanical Expedition), together with Claudia Gómez Morales for Radio y Televisión Interamericana (R.T.I.), Santa Fe de Bogotá, (1983), subsequently presented at the Madrid Royal Botanic Garden (1989), at Upsala University (1989) and in UNESCO, Paris (1991).
