Born in Aachen / Germany in 1957.

Curator and Head of Exhibitions. From 1986 to 88 he was Assistant Curator at the Städtisches Museum Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach. From 1990 to 91 he was Curator at the Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf. Since 1992 he is Curator and Head of Exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum Bonn.

He has been curator of the following artists: Josef Albers, Wladyslaw Strzeminski, Robert Ryman, Mona Hatoum, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Arnulf Rainer and Jörg Immendorff and has organised the exhibitions: From Kandinsky to Tatlin, Mutilple Identity, Wide White Space, August Macke und die frühe Moderne in Europa, Fluxus and Friends, Frantisek Kupka, Going Staying. Movement, Body and Place in Contemporary Art

He has written numerous essays and given multiple lectures on self portraits, contemporary drawings, Georg Baselitz, Paul Klee, Mona Hatoum, the Guggenheim Collection and all above mentioned artists.
